Planning to Pay for College

 

Your child has decided that they would like to attend college, they may have even been accepted already, now what??  Below is a list of guidelines compiled by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) and visit http://www.pheaa.org/.  

 

1.  Look for "free" money first.

• This is money that you do not need to repay.

• Grants and scholarships.

 

2.  Know your specific deadlines.

• Specific school deadline

• State deadline

• FAFSA deadline

 

3.  Fill out the FAFSA

4.  Compare schools' financial aid offers carefully.

• Check your Student Aid Report (SAR)

• Review each school's financial aid award letter.

• Compare each school and the different types of aid.

 

5.  Be sure you have the money you need.

• Know your education costs both direct and indirect.

• Meet the necessary deadlines.

• Contact the College's financial aid office.
